Composting Implementation Report

Composting options

Composting is a great way to waste produced from properties and help the environment. Here are some interesting facts in support of composting;

  • Food waste generates a significant amount of the greenhouse gas methane when it’s buried in landfills, but not when composted. In the united states, about 95% of food scraps are still thrown away and eventually end up in landfills.
  • Landfills are the third-largest source of human-related methane emissions in the united states.
  • In a commercial kitchen, it is estimated that as much as 70% of all waste is made up of organic material like food scraps and soiled napkins. Many big chain restaurants throw all this biodegradable waste in the garbage which ends up in landfills.
  • The 4.5 million residents of Nairobi, burn their trash or dump it illegally in the city because adequate waste disposal is unaffordable. 95% of collected waste can be recycled or composted. Thereby reducing carbon emissions.
