June 2021 Student Safari

The Future Hope Montessori School Safar Trip

In June 2021, Valor to Virtue organised a 3-night safari for 16 Grade 8 students from Future Hope Montessori School in Vipingo. All the students come from low income backgrounds, and have never had the opportunity to explore their own country, never experiencing anything outside their own county. So to reward these students, who ages ranged from 14 to 19 years old, for passing their exams, Valor 2 Virtue organised a once in a lifetime trip to Kivuli Camp in Rukinga. Students got to see elephants, zebras, buffalo and even got to see a pride of lions feasting on a zebra. Students also got to meet the conservancy rangers. They were also taken on a tour of the education centre at the camp, visited the Wildlife Works headquarters, participates in an elephant dung paper workshop with a local womens group, and enjoyed some early nature walks and hikes!

Being able to provide this opportunity to Kenyan students is incredibly important, not only because they get see more of their country and heritage, but it also allows them to ‘dream bigger’. Students were able to witness the many possible careers within conservation, as well as learn about a variety of wildlife and habitats. We hope that this opportunity will motivate them to continue their studies and to follow their passion!
