Beach Clean-ups

Community clean-up drives along the north coast, keeping nesting beaches clear of plastic and debris.

How it works

Volunteers, sacks and a stretch of coastline

Local volunteers, students and staff walk the beach together, collecting plastic bottles, fishing debris and other waste before it can bury nesting sites or wash back out to sea. It's simple, low-cost work — and it directly protects the same beaches Valor to Virtue helps keep under conservation.

The bigger picture

Small actions, protected coastline

Since 2022 we have run beach clean-ups twice a week on Bofa Beach, Kilifi. They are one part of a wider effort that also includes land protection and coastal forest rewilding — 5 land sites protected so far (3 leases and 2 properties).
